Berkshire and Oxfordshire Massage was formed by Terry Davis to offer a professional and mobile massage service for Caversham and the surrounding areas of Oxfordshire and Berkshire.
Terry has been actively involved in sport since childhood and frequently represented his school and sixth form in Athletics and Rugby. His sporting activities carried on through University and continue to this day. Terry is still extremely active today and has a mix of interests including cycling, running, kayaking, rowing and hill walking and he particularly enjoys endurance challenges.
Besides interests in sport and the abilities of human body, Terry has always had an enquiring mind, questioning how and why things work and after receiving treatment for a number of injuries he decided to research further. This logical progression has lead to a career in massage and manipulative therapy.
In 2005 Terry started formal training as a Massage Therapist and studied for a year at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic subsequently gaining his first qualification in Holistic Massage. The course included a good grounding in Anatomy and Physiology. The initial massage training sparked a further interest in manipulative therapy, resulting in him becoming a mature student and taking up a 5 year masters degree in Chiropractic, also at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic. McTimoney Chiropractic takes an holistic approach to all treatment and is completely in tune with the philosophy that Terry advocates. To date, Terry's additional Chiropractic training has provided him with a much more in-depth knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Neurology, Bio mechanics, Musculoskeletal Medicine and Pharmacology. The course has also included a good deal of soft tissue work, as well as Chiropractic techniques.
Although Terry is studying and training to become a Chiropractor, he will not fully qualify until 2012 and thus is unable to offer any form of Chiropractic treatment. However, the combination of his multi-displined training, personal injury history and interests in sport have frequently proved beneficial in the treatment of patients. Terry strongly believes that his mix of skills and interests help to qualify him as a better sport and remedial masseur and will eventually help to make him a better Chiropractor in the future.
As part of his ongoing and continual professional development Terry has also gained further qualifications in Sports Massage and Soft Tissue Release. He will continue to undertake further training and upgrade his Sports Massage qualification to the newer BTEC Professional Diploma in Clinical Sport & Remedial Massage (Level 5).
